One Wild Night

right, so yesterday was the official end of fresher's week and it was meant to be wild... and guess what, it was. I'd like to tell you all about it, but I don't remember too much... jeje. one of my flatmates has a terrible hangover, though, after drinking more than 15 pints in the night. I actually managed to wake up this morning pretty early (9) so I guess I had less than that (lol, jk, of course I had less than that... but I couldn't say exactly how many).

what I do remember ("remember") though is trying to get home... being under the influence for most of the night, I had no clue where we were... just some random club. and I had to walk home (I decided to do that before I lost complete control of myself... didn't want to end up sleeping in the streets in my first week). before yesterday it hadn't rained since I got to Newcastle... well, guess what, it rained last night when I was coming home. great, eh? so I was wandering around Newcastle in the rain and no proper gear. anyway, I finally found my way (followed the masses... no other way to do it) and made it home alive. so what did that teach me? I have to stay close to my flatmates when I'm drinking. it would be a different matter if I was still in Valencia (well, if I attempted to walk home I'd get mugged... at least), but in a different place you don't know? well, that's only something I'd do (well, not really... I'm pretty sure everyone else was pissed too... but they weren't alone).

from now on I'm not sure what will happen... I'm sure some more crazy stuff will happen, but I don't know at what rate... my flatmates are pretty out there, so I'm sure there'll be a lot to tell. until then, chao.

From Newcastle upon Tyne:

So I'm finally registered at the university so now I have access to the internet again (well... "again"). that was a painful process, to say the least. I've been running (literally) around the university for the past three days getting things sorted out. it seems that the School of Computer Science is the only school that's well organized (which is unfortunate for me, because that's the only one I know... well, knew, coz now I know most buildings better than any second year...). Anyway, since I'm doing IS I had to register with other schools (mainly the business school and the agriculture school (no, i'm not becoming a farmer)) and damn, they had me from floor to floor to building to building to... you get the point. oh, and guess what. I had to attend lectures these past days... yeah, that's right. and I'm not even registered (well, wasn't)! but it's all over. since monday I've been away from "home" from 8am to around 1am. in the mornings/afternoons trying to register and in the evenings... well, you know.

yesteday I went on a pub crawl with the rock society and it was a blast... the best night so far. the shocking part is to see people dancing (not jumping, but dancing) to rock. that's something I never would've expected. and because of the shock I still haven't been able to to "dance" yet, although it takes no skill to. see, I always believed that to listen to rock properly you had to lay back, drink and sing along... not dance!

Anyway, the day before (night before) there was a gig at the union (that's the student union... bars, clubs, shops... on campus) and I was there, third row right next to the speaker. no need to say my ears are still ringing today. the opening acts were the best, and although they were punkish rock, it was great fun. everyone packed together sweating on each other (I was stuck in the middle of a group of girls... that's why it was good... you wouldn't imagine how much "accidental" touching there was...). the main act was this sort of hip-hop/rnb mockers, but I didn't stay until the end... I felt I was betrying my principles.

The city's very nice. it's not too big, but you can find a lot of things to do. the cold is mostly bareable, but at night it kills... yesterday I had to walk home from Northumbria Uni (the other side of the city centre) and it was bloody freezing... I was shaking uncontrolably. and the ladies walk in mini skirts and short tops... aja. I still need to get my mobile (I have everyone's mobile but I can't contact them!) and open a bank account (hey, I've been busy...)... oh, and this is a bit unsettling. all the girls in my building know my name, and they call me out and do all types of weird things... and I don't know theirs (even though they're in my flat every night)! and that happens a lot, actually. I'm not good with names so I say hi to people all the time without using their names... and I think I get away with it... I hope.

talking about those girls... at the gig I was harassed by them! and by harassed I mean they were grabbing my ass! I was like "oooookay.." and they just kept on doing it. oh, and the large majority of the girls are blonde (that's right, way more than that crappy 50% of sweden).

so well, my first experiences in Newcastle have been good... good looking girls, the large majority speak Italian (Erc will know...) and the people are very nice. let the uni life begin!!
